Born Susan Alexandra Weaver on October 8th, 1949, Sigourney Weaver is probably best known for her role as Ellen Ripley in the movie series Alien.  Ridley Scott’s Alien released in 1979 brought international fame for Sigourney.  Aliens which was directed by James Cameron was released in 1986, Sigourney also starred in two other sequels in the Alien series.

Ghostbusters was another box office success for Sigourney during the 1980′s. Her portrayal of the character Dana Barrett in the Ghostbuster series of films was well received by audiences the world over. Many of her films have received critical acclaim. Sigourney has received many award nominations. Her films such as Gorillas in the Mist, The Ice Storm and for her work in the Alien movies have all been well received by critics and audiences alike.

Sigourneys’ recent role in Avatar has also won her critical acclaim. In James Cameron’s Avatar she takes on the role of Dr Grace Augustine. In this role we see her as the lead scientist in the Avatar program being run on the moon Pandora. In this movie we see a very caring, yet abrupt character with multiple personality faults and a great distrust for the military. As Dr Grace Augustine we can see Sigourney at her best.

We can look forward to seeing Sigourney in the upcoming movie You Again, which she is currently filming and plays the role of Aunt Ramona. You Again is expected to be released in late 2010 or 2011. 2011 should also see Sigourney on the big screen as Macy Vanderhei in Cedar Rapids. We may also be seeing Sigourney as a Vampire Queen in the movie Vamps.
